The C-71-5H Earth Drill is the workhorse of the Ground Hog line, tried and tested for over 30 years. Also known as an " Anchor Drill". This is a two-man drill. Auger Bits sold separately.

The Ground Hog C-71-5 is two-man earth drill designed to deliver years of reliable service with superior performance. It has been a proven performer for over 40 years. It’s rugged design promotes durability and requires very little maintenance. The heart of this unit is our time-tested transmission. The transmission is an efficient worm drive design utilizing alloy steel shafts, large, tapered roller bearings and our standard 7/8” square auger drive.

Aluminum castings are used throughout the C-71-5's construction to produce a unit that is both strong and lightweight. The C-71-5 uses an air-cooled centrifugal clutch and a trigger-type, return-style throttle. Both operator positions are equipped with individual stop switches and tubular steel handlebars.

Please note: This drill will not drive anchors without pre-drilling a pilot hole. To drill a pilot hole, we highly recommend using the following auger extensions and auger: Qty 2 MANTA LB-9054 & Qty 1 MANTA LB-4SSC 50102.

The Manta Ray load locker Manta Ray LL-1 is required to load lock and proof test the anchor. It is a double acting hollow hydraulic jack with a base reaction plate and a direct reading gauge. The load locker can be used with the same hydraulic from the line truck used to drive the jack hammer.The LL-3(50134) Base Plate is designed for anchors that are installed at an angle to the ground. It has a large bearing surface and a small cross member.The vertical legs of the Base cut into the soil during use to help keep the base from skidding.For angled guy anchors the two cross members should be placed toward the tower and perpendicular to the axis of the anchor rod. *Base Plate Only

Manta Ray 50233 SG-2, a 33" Drive Steel Extension is a
patented design made of high performance materials. It allows the anchor to be driven to depth in discrete increments
to allow installation in tight spaces while the operators remain safely on the ground. The anchor is threaded on both sides to accept a coupler for further length. The SG drive steel uses a partial left hand thread that allows very efficient impact energy transfer from the jack hammer
to the anchor. All joints should be lubricated with light oil or spray lubricant prior to assembly. After installing an anchor
the drive steel joints should be cleaned of dirt which will enter the couplers during driving. Failure to clean and lubricate
the drive steel and couplers will result in premature failure.

Manta Ray 50424 SG-X Drive Steel Extractor Bar is used in conjunction with the LL-1 Load Locker to extract any drive steel that happens to get stuck underground. Simply remove the hammer from the shank and screw the extractor bar (it also is rope threaded) into the coupler. Use the Load Locker to pull up on the “extractor bar” to break the drive steel free. Be careful as the drive steel is pulled out and removed to not allow portions of the drive steel to fall back down the hole. Usually there is some obstruction to removing the drive steel, and once they are broken free with the Load Locker they can easily be removed by hand.
